Access is from Porto Seguro (80km). By car or transfer, follow to Caraívaçu, then take a dirt road to the banks of the Caraíva River. The final crossing is by canoe (5 minutes). Cars are not allowed inside the village.
Caraíva is magical year-round. High season (New Year's, Carnival, and July) is vibrant. For true "quiet luxury" and absolute silence, we recommend March to June, or August to November.

Since cars cannot enter Caraíva, you must leave your vehicle in one of the secure parking lots located on the opposite side of the river (in Caraívaçu). From there, the crossing is made by canoes that operate 24 hours.
